He reiterated his commitment to working towards the success of the Asunafo South District, emphasizing his non-partisan approach.

The PM encouraged the Assembly members to repeat the same commitment and understanding they showed and gave him during the elections that elected him as the Presiding Member to propel.

He stressed the need for the Assembly members to work together in peace and harmony with the Assembly workers, heads of departments and other NGOs for the betterment of the district.

He appealed to the newly elected assembly members to be selfless in their service. The District Chief Executive, Mr. Frank Aduse Poku on his part commended the house for attending the meeting on short notice.

Mr Aduse emphasized the importance of transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration in selecting members based on merit, expertise, and their ability to contribute effectively to the goals of each Sub-Committee.

He appealed to the experienced Assembly members to share their knowledge with the newly elected ones. He emphasized the importance of putting aside party politics and working together to support the development of the district.

He concluded by saying the formation of the Sub-Committees is a step towards decentralizing responsibilities, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that decisions are made closer to the ground where their impact is felt the most.

He advised the house to approach the process with a spirit of unity and a focus on the common goals. He emphasised the need to work with a clear vision and a strong commitment to governance that serves the best interest of all.

The main agenda item was the formation of Sub-Committees, as required by the Local Government Act (Act 936), 2016. The District Chief Executive, with the help of the District Coordinating Director, was tasked with making recommendations to the house for the formation of Sub-Committees.

However, the recommendations made by the DCE were not approved by the assembly members, leading to the postponement of the sub-committee formation to a later date.

Before adjourning the meeting, the DCE Frank Aduse Poku, the Presiding Member, Mr. Sulemana Baba Amadu , and the District Coordinating Director, Mr Oliver Opoku Yeboah had a brief break session to deliberate on the issue. Despite their efforts, a resolution could not be reached.

Despite the postponement of the Sub-Committee formation, the Assembly demonstrated a commitment to working together and fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.

The Assembly members, heads of departments, and other stakeholders look forward to the next meeting, where they will reconvene to form the Sub-Committees and continue working towards the development of the Asunafo South District.
