The communities include Kotorkori Line, Dada and Banyarko.

According to him, the current situation is negatively impacting livelihoods in these communities.

He said the absence of electricity makes it difficult for them to engage in any economic activity such as selling of refrigerated food such as fresh fish and iced water to earn some income to help boost their living conditions.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Berko said, pupils in these deprived communities are unable to study as well as do their assignment at home in the night, saying it was retarding their academic performance as compared to their counterparts in other communities with electricity.

“Our children who attend Junior High School are not able to compete with their colleagues. “When the teacher asks them to prepare for a test, those in light areas will prepare very well because they have lights but those at deprived communities cannot adequately prepare because there is no light here”, Mr. Yaw Berko explained.

Nana Santo and other communities therefore, appealed to the Sene West District Assembly and the government to provide the community with electricity to help improve their livelihoods.

Mr Berko also appealed to the community for a better toilet facility to be constructed in his jurisdiction, testifying that residents are practicing open defecation due to the bad nature of the toilet facility.
