Wenchi Assembly outlines operations for cashew in the municipality
Following the outcome of series of consultative meetings between the Municipal Assembly and stakeholders in the Cashew Value Chain, the Assembly has outlined guidelines within which Cashew produce purchasing companies in the Wenchi Municipality would operate in the 2022 season.

The guidelines include;
• All companies that wish to purchase cashew produce in the Municipality must establish an operational (warehouse) at Wenchi.
• Companies liaise with the Cargo Branch of GPRTU for transportation of cashew produce from Wenchi directly to Tema.
• The Municipal Assembly shall issue a waybill on all cashew produce from Wenchi.
• The Cashew Produce Buying Companies shall liaise with the Local Branch of GPRTU and the Executives of the Cashew Buyers and
Exporters Association to take necessary action to address any shortfall where there is vehicle/transport capacity challenge.
• Apart from vehicles arranged through the Local Branch of the GPRTU in collaboration with the Executives of the Cashew Buyers and Exporters Association, no vehicle owner shall be allowed to transport cashew produce from Wenchi.
• Pursuant to Guideline 5 above, offenders shall be liable to a spot fine of Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5, 000) upon arrest of vehicles.
• All new companies shall register with the Municipal Assembly at the fee of One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 1, 000)
• Companies shall pay Annual/Yearly Business Operation Permit fee of Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 3, 000)
• Cashew produce buying Agents shall pay Business Operation Permit of One Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHC 100). Conveyance per bag of Cashew is One Ghana Cedi (GHC 1. 00).
It is the expectation of the Assembly that all stakeholders, particularly interested produce buying companies and operatives will adhere strictly to the above guidelines to enhance development in the Cashew Value Chain in the Municipality.
