This will bring to fifteen electoral areas in the district.
The new four electoral areas will be carved from the existing electoral areas which has large voter population and other considerations.
This was revealed when the Akrofuom District Electoral Officer, Mr. Ebenezer Tettey Odonkor briefed Assembly members, nananom and other stakeholders at the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly held recently at Akrofuom, the district capital.
He said the creation forms part of the many electoral areas being created nationwide. He added that the reasons for the creation of these four new electoral areas are as a result of voter population in some of these electoral areas which has as much as 2,000, 6,000 and 7,000 electorates as well as the terrain or the accessibility of the polling stations in these electoral areas.
He revealed that the new electoral areas will be Akrofuom North, Okyerekrom, Kramokrom and Takyikrom carved from Akrofuom East, Nana Okai, Grumesa and Ampunyesa respectively.
Akrofuom North electoral area will have Akrofuom Sec. Tech and Ohiatua CMB shed; Okyerekrom electoral area will also have D/A Primary School and CMB shed Abusa as polling stations.
On the other hand, Kramokrom will have three polling stations namely D/A JHS Adeyepena, D/A Primary School Kramokrom and D/A Primary School Okai Ababio. Takyikrom will also have D/A Primary School Kubi Kwanto, D/A Primary School Takyikrom and D/A Primary school Adom Nyame.
Mr Odonkor also entreated stakeholders and opinion leaders who have concerns about the changes or would want some changes to their electoral areas not to hesitate to petition his office for consideration at the appropriate quarters.
Participants were pleased with the changes despite some alterations they would have wished to be added. They therefore assured that they would support the Electoral Commission in the discharge of its duties in the district.
They also appealed to the commission to intensify its sensitisation when the election is due so that electorates will know their polling stations and their electoral areas in order to choose their preferred leaders.
