He said it was in the Assembly’s best interest to engage the youth in agriculture by providing them with enough resources and other factors of production to be able to produce enough food to feed the district and the country as a whole.

Mr. Gyagyera, who was speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, further noted that the move forms part of the assembly’s new action plan to drastically reduce its ever rising unemployment rate especially among the youth in the area.

Meanwhile, touching on other agricultural related developments, Mr. Gyagyera again disclosed that his office is putting in much effort to help boost fish production.

He said the Assembly is working closely with the agric department to create fish ponds, build cages on the Volta River as well as provide farmers with standardized fingerlings as part of efforts to help expand fish farming in the district.

“We are putting efforts in place to create ponds and also build fish cages that will also be on the Volta river and that will be enough for our fishermen to produce so much to feed ourselves and the nation”, Mr Gyagyera opined.
