He said out of the remaining eight dams, four were at an advanced stage of completion, two of them were 50 per cent complete while work on the remaining two is yet to commence.

Mr Bakor, who revealed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Guollu over the weekend, thanked government for the project adding that when completed, it would promote all year-round farming
in the district.

The contractor working on the the one at Kusali says it is left with what we call the spillway, so they need some bit of concrete work in the process, he said.

Mr Bakor said the status of the various projects have been reported to the engineers for verification and approval.

He said the contractor who has not yet reported to site has been reported to the appropriate authority for the necessary action to be taken against him.

Mr Bakor called on the beneficiary communities to maximise the use of the facilities to improve their economies while government is working to implement other programmes and policies such as the Rearing for Food and Jobs programme.

Touching on other development initiatives in the district, he said, he was collaborating with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West Constituency and other Civil Society Organisations to improve the educational sector.

Our biggest challenge which I cannot speak for other districts is furniture for the basic schools which my (MP) and I, are working tirelessly to resolve, he said.

Through the District Development Facility (DDF), the Assembly would provide 400 dual desks and some teachers tables, Mr Bakor said adding that the MP has equally promised to provide some through his Common FundĀ.
