Oforikrom MCE, KNUST Vice Chancellor Strengthens Ties for Community Development

The Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, as part of efforts to deepen institutional collaboration, has paid a working visit to the Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson.

The meeting, which was held today at the KNUST administration, focused on exploring strategic partnerships between the Assembly and the University in areas of education, infrastructure, and community development.

The DCE highlighted the vital role of academic institutions in driving sustainable local progress.

He noted that, the assembly by strengthening it ties with KNUST being a pillar of excellence, could tap into the vast expertise of the University to support educational programs, enhance livelihoods, and promote inclusive development in the municipality.

Prof. Dickson echoed the importance of such collaboration and emphasized the mutual benefits of sustained engagement between the University and the Assembly.

“The University and the municipality are interconnected. We thrive when the community thrives,” she noted. She thus, urged the Assembly to prioritize the facelift of the Tech Junction to Maxima stretch, which she believes is a critical access route not only for the university but the gateway to Kumasi.

The two leaders underscored the need for continuous dialogue to address shared challenges and to align efforts toward advancing the development agenda of Oforikrom.

Accompanying the MCE were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Attah Mensah, Municipal Education Director, Madam Dorothy Baidoo, Heads of Departments officers from the Assembly, and Assembly Members.
