KMA launches HORESD project

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in collaboration with the Mancomunitat Dela Ribera Alta – Spain and the Chamber of Praia in Cape Verde, has launched an European Union funded project, dubbed “Hollistic Reinforcement for Sustainable Development (HORESD)”.

The objectives of the project are to Strengthen Kumasi’s capacity to provide public services, give priority to an integrated management system of solid urban waste.


The project will also help Implement the participative processes in Kumasi and boost the circular economy in Kumasi with special emphasis on incorporating disadvantaged people or those at risk of social exclusion that is women, young people and people with disabilities.


Present at the launch were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, Kumasi Mayor, Mr. Samuel Pyne, H.E. Javier Gutierrez, Spain Ambassador H.E. Irchad Razaali, Ambassador and Head of EU Delegation, Dr. Sergi Machi, Director of MANRA among others.
