AKATSI N: DCE distributes cashew Seedlings to farmers
The Akatsi North District Assembly in the Volta region, under the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), has raised and distributed cashew Seedlings to some selected farmers for planting.

Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) programme is a government initiative to develop seven main selected crops such as Cashew, Coffee, Oil palm, Citrus, Cotton, Coconut and Shea into cash crops.
Under the programme, all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies are expected to develop an agric project by adopting one identified crops to support farmers in the area.
Speaking at a short ceremony to commence distribution of the cashew seedlings, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu was grateful to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo for initiating “this brilliant policy that will in the next three to five years change the economy of our district”.
He stated that, the initiative would not only create job opportunities but also encourage the youth into agric business. He added that the project will also help provide raw materials to feed government’s industrialization agenda through the One District, One Factory initiative.
He urged other farmers who have not yet applied for the project to take advantage of the project and get actively involved.
