Ahafo Ano South-East District Assembly Supports 100 BECE Candidates

The Ahafo Ano South-East District Assembly (AASEDA) in the Ashanti Region has donated trunk, chop box and mattress each to 100 candidates who excelled in the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The gesture is in fulfilment of promise made by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Thomas Owusu Ansah, to the candidates who sat for the 2022 BECE and performed creditably.

It could be recalled that, the DCE in his tour of examination centres, promised to support students who would obtain between aggregates six and nine in the results.

However, to extend the gesture to benefit more students, students who obtained aggregates 10 to 13 were also considered.

Presenting the items to the soon-to-be first year students in senior high schools on April 5, 2022 at the District Assembly Block, Adugyama, the DCE said the gesture was to motivate the students to excel in their examinations.

” I am very happy you have made yourselves, guardians, and the entire District proud by passing well in your BECE.

When I requested for your BECE results from the District Directorate of Education, I was very happy and I had no option than to fulfill the promise I made to you during your exams”, he stated.

The DCE added that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and the District Assembly were ever ready to support students to excel in their education apart from providing required logistics and infrastructure.

He advised students to remain focus in achieving success in their academic endeavors by staying away from peer pressure and other self-destructive tendencies.

“When you are able to stay away from bad peers you are going to meet in your schools, and concentrate in your academic work, you will climb up on the academic ladder and become future leaders.

You have the opportunity to become great people in future and also justify the investments made in you by the Akuffo Addo-led government via the Free Senior High School Policy if you concentrate on your academic work”, the DCE further stated.

Mr Hamid Kramo, District Director of Education thanked the DCE and the District Assembly for relieving guardians of the financial burden of buying these important items on students’ prospectus.

He noted that the District Directorate of Education would request for terminal reports from schools of beneficiary students in order to monitor their performance for future support.

By this, Mr Hamid Kramo believed, his outfit would not only keep the students in check and but would entice them to work harder to justify the investments made in them.

Mrs Charlotte Asiedu on behalf of guardians of beneficiary students thanked the DCE and the District Assembly for the gesture.

“This gesture is first of its kind in the District. We are eternally grateful to DCE in particular, the District Assembly and everyone who made this possible”, she delightfully said.

With the DCE to present the items to students with their guardians were Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, District Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments, and staff of the District Assembly.
