Speaking to the public at this year's first Town Hall Meeting at the Methodist Church Ghana, Kwabenya, she disclosed that major steps are being taken to address the perennial flooding situation in some parts of the Municipality through the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project.
"In line with this, I was privileged to join the Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, to inspect various flood hotspots in Haatso and other parts of the Municipality".
She assured that they will do the needful to curtail any unforeseen development in this regard, but reminded the people of the need to also take environmental hygiene seriously as the assembly continues to put the necessary structures in place to ensure free flow of water.
On sanitation, she said the Operation Clean Your Frontage campaign is still in force and entreated everybody to ensure their surroundings are kept clean at all times.
"Our task force is always on the ground to ensure strict enforcement of our Byelaws. Recent reports from residents indicate some slackness in the collection of domestic waste by the various contractors in some parts of the Municipality.
I have tasked my Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO) to expedite action on the reports and take necessary steps to ensure the affected contractors improve their work or face the appropriate sanctions", she stated.
