BOSOME F: Assembly Members urged to help improve revenue

Assembly members in the Bosome Freho District in the Ashanti Region have been charged to assist revenue collectors in their various Electoral Areas in the collection of revenue to help the assembly meet its revenue targets.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Kwame Adarkwah, who was not pleased with performance in the third quarter in the assembly’s internally generated fund said though the assembly members have been  trained to assist in the mobilization of  revenue,  they have not been able to help in that regard.

According to him, a number of steps have also been taken to maximize revenue collection including intensive public education, deadline given to tax payers to honour their tax obligation or face the law, among others to boost revenue collection especially in the area of property rates.

The DCE reminded both the revenue collectors and assembly members of the need to rake in more IGF, first for accelerated development and the assembly’s recurrent expenditure, adding that it is also important to aid in their FOAT assessments.

“Therefore let’s all be up and doing to ensure that the district continues to enjoy from the district development facility grant”.

Hon. Kwame Adarkwah announced that an office accommodation would be constructed for the police command in the district and some health facilities would also be rehabilitated to give them facelift. 

He therefore, called for concerted efforts from the citizenry and authorities towards ensuring the total development of the district.

The Bosome Freho District Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Grace Martha Navelle, who briefed the house on the electoral process, admonished political parties to see to it that their members adhere to every rule of the game of elections to ensure Ghana comes out of the 2016 elections with a good image.

She indicated that “the Commission is resolute in its conviction to do its part and it is now the duty of every Ghanaian to demonstrate his or her commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral outcome”.
