He said as much as the government was determined to make education affordable to every Ghanaian child through the provision of free school uniforms, exercise books, furniture, meals and infrastructure, it was the responsibility of teachers to also step up their output to set better standards in schools.

Mr. Agyekum made the appeal when the newly appointed District Director of Education Madam Philipa Banson called on him at Nkoranza.

The DCE commended Madam Banson for accepting posting to the district and expressed the hope that her position would inspire other female teachers and increase female education in the area.

Mr. Agyekum gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to support educational activities in the district, and advised parents to collaborate with teachers and school authorities to ensure that their children acquired quality education.

Madam Banson expressed gratitude to the DCE for his assurance and promised to do her best to raise the fallen standard of education in the area.

She appealed to teachers to support her administration to enhance the standard of education in the area.
