According to her there are brighter days ahead of the cashew even more than cocoa as the current government led by Nana Akufo Addo is determined to make the crop one of Ghana’s major crop that will earn the country enough foreign exchange.
The MCE made the call when she visited the Akropong community in the Nkoranza South Municipality where a major cashew nursery has been established under the “planting for foods and jobs” programme by government.
Madam Kusiwaa noted that cashew is a property for the bonos, and must be treated as such to boost the economy of the municipality and the region at large. She encouraged everyone in the region to support the planting for food and jobs initiative which is seen as the best policy for farmers.
The MCE was there with the Municipal Coordinating Director, and the Agric Director, Amenga Denis Abugri.
Meanwhile, the Akropong farmers called for the needed support particularly the supply of tools, like pick axe, shovel, trowel, hand grove and other things to facilitate their work.
