BEKWAI MUNICIPAL HEALTH DIRECTORATE –ASHANTI 2020 ANNUAL HEALTH PERFORMANCE REVIEW

As part of efforts to ensure improved health care delivery in the Municipality, the Municipal Health Directorate has organized a 2020 Annual Performance Review Meeting with Stakeholders on the 23rd February, 2021 at the Wesley Methodist Conference Hall.

The opening ceremony of the review was performed by the Municipal Health Director Mr. Clement Nti-Boateng. After the opening ceremony, the Chairperson for the occasion Mr. Eric Frimpong the Hospital Administrator delivered his acceptance remarks on the need to do performance review annually.

Presentations were done by Bekwai Municipal Hospital, Akomaa S.D.A. Hospital Kortwia and the Municipal Health Directorate and Zipline. Bekwai Municipal Hospital’s presentation was done by Dr. Emmanuel Aboagye, Akomaa S.D.A Hospital’s presentation was done by Mrs.

Theresah Nyarko Nkrumah and the Municipal Health Directorate’s presentation was done by Mr. Clement Nti-Boateng respectfully.
All the sectors complained about the following challenges in 2020:
• Covid-19 Pandemic
• High cost of consumables
• Default payment by clients
• Drop in OPD attendance and Special Clinic
• High Still Birth Rate
• Shortage in some Medicine due to RMC
Some achievements in 2020 are as follows:
• Reduction in Maternal Mortality Rate
• Covid-19 Screening being done at the families
• Reduction in rate of Medicine expiry
• Improved revenue generation (NHIS/CASH)

During the Meeting, Zipline also presented their submission on how they have contributed to the Health Directorate in the year 2020 in Bekwai Municipality. They also urged the Municipality that they would put much effort to the Health Directorate in Bekwai Municipality.
The way forward for the year 2021 is to train Staffs and make logistics available to deal with Covid-19. Maternal Mortality rate reduced in 2020 and they seek to improve on their work to maintain the zero percentage (0%).

It is seen that, the Covid-19 Pandemic is affecting our active generation that is between the ages of 20-39 years both Male and Female.
The Assistant Director IIA of the Municipal Assembly, Mr. Daniel Owusu Nsafoah advised all to always follow the protocols given that is by washing of hands, wearing of face mask, sanitizing our hands and other surfaces and continue practicing social distancing to avoid being affected with the Covid-19 disease. The Health Director closed the Meeting by thanking both staff and stakeholders for making it to the meeting. The 2020 Annual Health Performance Review achieved a success.
