GARU TEMPANE: Do not pay for your services - Minister warns LEAP beneficiaries

She said government has already paid for everything including the cards and services provided them under the scheme hence they should report anyone who would demand cash payments from them.
Nana Oye lithur was addressing beneficiaries under the scheme in Basyonde and Tarivargo communities in the Garu Tempane District in the Upper East Region.
As part of her interactions with the people, she called on them to take keen interests in the health and education of their children since government has also instituted a number of social interventions in these areas to them more accessible and affordable.
The Minister who was on LEAP monitoring tour of the Upper East Region also hinted of free replacement and registration of beneficiaries of LEAP onto the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Of the 33,091 households in the 13 districts of the upper East Region, 3,069 of the households are from the Garu Tempane District.
She assured that some alternative arrangements would be introduced to address the technical challenges that have affected swift disbursement of funds to some beneficiaries in some parts of the region to curtail their monies being in areas.
According to her, money has always been available for payment but delays in registration and issuance of the E-zwitch card results in non-payments, but this would be addressed soon.
With the school feeding programme as one of the social interventions under her ministry, Hon. Nana Oye Lithur also used the opportunity to inspect progress of the school feeding in some of the schools and charged authorities to ensure the means are served at the appropriate time under hygienic environment.
