This, he said, explains the reason why the government has intensified its efforts to promote the rights of persons with disabilities in the country.

The DCE said this during the commissioning of two Disability Ramps in Kadjebi last week.

According to him, the new Disability Ramps are expected to create access to persons with disabilities and as well enforce the agenda for inclusive education for the transformation of the lives of the users and their families.

He said these efforts being made by the government and its development partners are to ensure that all humans have equal opportunities, especially in the sector of education.“Boys and girls with disabilities will now have no reason to stay home, but come to school every day. We all know what education means for us as a people” the DCE added.

The DCE further seized the opportunity to admonish parents and traditional leaders to desist from beliefs and superstitions that children with disability are curse to the society, adding that such beliefs are untrue and archaic.

He pleaded that the facilities be well maintained, protected and available always for the targeted group. “They should not become play grounds for other children who will destroy them” Mr Asiedu warned.
