The Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly has rejected boundary claims by their sister municipality La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA).

Municipal Chief Executive for Ledzokuku-Krowor, Seth Badu Tawiah said there was no basis for LaDMA to lay claim over the Accra Mall, Airport Hills, Papaye Fast Foods among others.

According to him, even before the creation of LaDMA out of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, LEKMA shared boundary with AMA and the said areas were under the jurisdiction of LEKMA. More so, there already exist a base Map developed by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council which demarcates the district boundaries of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly (MMDAs) in the region.

Additionally, regulations, 1, 2(4) and 5 of the schedule which specifies the areas of the assembly in L.I.2133, did not mention areas such as the Accra Mall, Airport Hills, Papaye Fast Foods among others as part of another Assembly.

The MCE described LaDMA’s claim as very unfortunate especially when their parent Municipality (AMA) hitherto had no jurisdiction over the aforementioned areas.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tawiah is calling for calm in order to find amicable settlement of the problem since the two municipalities are fighting for a common goal of improving the lives of their people. He indicated that there is no need to start getting at each other while there are relevant institutions to help resolve the impasse.
