Bakaano, a suburb of Cape Coast on Wednesday evening was a stage for drama , when seven police officers dressed in their muftis, brutally assaulted a taxi driver, Osei Badu.

The police officers were in a taxi cab which was  turning from Pitmas to the main road at Bakaano but the driver floated traffic rules by forcefully driving into the main road instead of waiting for vehicles on the main road to pass before joining.

A situation which led to a near collision.

Osei Badu, who was driving  on the main road and could not hide his displeasure, parked and asked the taxi driver whose vehicle was carrying the police men why he did that.

The statement infuriated the police officers instead and one immediately pushed the Osei Badu.

Osei Badu also retaliated and got the other police officers angry, who resorted to heckling Osei Badu tearing his shirt and jeans trousers in the process.

They bundled him into his car and instructed him to driver them to the police station where they will show him "where power lies".

An eyewitness of the whole incident, stated that in the process the driver managed to escape and took to his heels.

The police officers tried to deflate the tyres of the cab but were prevented by on lookers.

The taxi is still parked at the exact location of the incident.
