(ASAMANKESE) WEST AKYEM :Farmer steals electricity cables

Kwadwo Duah, a 30-year-old farmer has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Asamankese District Magistrate’s Court for stealing some cable of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Kwadwo Duah, a 30-year-old farmer has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Asamankese District Magistrate’s Court for stealing some cables of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
   

Duah, known also as Osikani, pleaded guilty.

Police Inspector Wisdom Nuworkpor, prosecuting, told the court that on 5th May this year, a security man working with the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG) at Asamankese in the West Akyem district of the Central region, reported that some copper cables in their yard had gone missing.  

However, on May 12 at about 2200 hours, Duah was seen carrying some cables in a white sack from the ECG yard and was arrested.

But managed to escape when he was being escorted to the police station.

But, his captors arrested him four days later and hence his prosecution.
