The 6th EU -Micro programme projects have been commissioned in Denkyira Besease area of the Upper Denkyira district in the Central region.

The projects comprise one three classroom block, Subin Hill, one 3Unit teachers’ Quarters, Besease, one Culvert, Debiasem, one 3-Unit Teachers’ Quarters, Bethlehem.

Others include Income Generating Projects (IGP); purchase of gari grating machine and the erection of a shed and the installation of palm oil extracting  machine at Subin/Afiefiso.

The Upper Denkyira West, DCE, Mr. Ackah Yankah stated that the developments would bring tremendous improvement in the lives of the beneficiary communities.

He express the gratitude of the Assembly to the development partners – the European Union for their continuous support.

"I want to assure you that the Assembly will monitor and ensure that the facilities are put good use so that they can last and be of use by the next generation"he emphasised.

He noted that the phase II of the 6th EU Micro Programme Projects started at the same time when the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly was set up.

The physical implementation of the infrastructural projects was timely because it afforded the Assembly a kind of opportunity to demonstrate to the whole  world the districts capabilities in project management.

The Assembly does not only have the physical projects but has also built their capacity in project management.  In fact having successfully implemented these projects within the stipulated schedule, I am confident that if the Assembly should receive more projects in the next phase, we shall judiciously apply the resources and timorously execute the task expected of us, the DCE confidently stated.

He said these projects will create the enabling infrastructure, opportunities for income generation in our rural set ups and generally opening up the rural areas for the effective delivery of social services.

The government will make sure that we speed up the pace of rural development, for we are aware that lack of development in the rural areas, would translate into more problems in our urban areas,Mr. Yankah assured.

We shall continue to avail ourselves to partner the European Union since we all have a common goal, of rural development.

He, therefore, appealled to the project management of the E.U. MPP to give more priority in the selection and siting of project to new Districts.
