YENDI : Politicians blamed for skirmishes in NR

The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Hudu Walvis has blamed politicians for being responsible for the skirmishes in the northern region.

The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Hudu Walvis has blamed politicians for being responsible for the skirmishes in the northern region.

He said “until the perpetrators of the late overlord of Dagbon and the forty others are brought to book more” Incidences are likely to emanate from the grieved people and the youth of the region”.

According to him the clashes and the skirmishes in the region has some thing to do with the death of the late Yan-Naa “which nothing has been than about”, adding that until the government do something serious about it, the region would continue to record violence cases.

He continued that most of the people especially the youth in the region belong to one of the chieftaincy device (Abudu and Andani) in the region and have hidden their identity behind politics and act at every given opportunity.

He suggested that in the interest of safety of lives and properties in the Yendi Municipality and its environs, the international bodies, government, stakeholders and the media has a very important role, that is “to bring the law to work without fear or favor” he said.

The MCE said “the Municipality already has enough challenges to cope with in the areas of health, education, housing, portable water supply, guinea worm infection, this have created a a lot of challenges in the area”. Said the MCE Hon Walvis challenged the people of the Municipality to focus in breeching their difference and said it is very important for the people to set their priorities right.

“The illegal accumulation of arms and ammunition in the final analysis erode all the gains made and leave the region in a state of perpetual poverty” he said.

The MCE further urged all residents of the municipality and beyond to direct their energies strategically into ventures that would enable them provide education for their kids, health care and for the development of the area.

He crave the indulgence of the leadership of the political parties to openly express disapproval of violence of any form and advocate dialogue to their teaming supporters and sympathizers and laid down regulations to seek redress.
