The Chief of Akuse,Nene Aseidu Ahor I, has expressed worry over the neglect of the Akuse government hospital, which was constructed about 99 years ago by the first President of the Republic, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, during the rein of the late Nene Azumatey Koley.

According to him, the facility, arguably the oldest hospital in the country had been left to its fate since the overthrow of Dr, Nkrumah, who was a classmate of the late chief of the area, at Achimota in 1931.

He noted that the poor state of the facility, coupled with lack of logistics, had not only placed its paramedics under taxing conditions of service, but also poor and inaccessibility of good health care.

He, however, appealed to President John Evans Atta Mills, through the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Lower Manya Assembly, Mr. Isaac Agbo, to come to the aid of the area, since doctors and nurses at the hospital were contemplating over leaving the facility.
