OFFINSO NORTH: Assembly unveils educational plans

The Offinso North District Assembly in collaboration with its residents abroad would provide education sponsorship for needy but brilliant students.

The Offinso North District Assembly in collaboration with its residents abroad would provide education sponsorship for needy but brilliant students.
 
The collaboration is also to formulate measures to expand
vocational and technical schools in the district to train the youth and school drop-outs to acquire employable skills.
 
Mr Kojo Appiah-Kubi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who told Newsmen on Friday in Kumasi, said the assembly was
determined to promote education.
     
He said stakeholders would be encouraged to invest in education at all levels in order for the district to build the kind of human resource base needed to support the developmental agenda of the area.
 
The DCE expressed unhappiness about the high rate of unemployment among the youth in the district.
 
Mr Appiah-Kubi touched on post-harvest losses of agricultural
products particularly, tomato, which is produced on large-scale in the area as another major concern to the assembly.
 
“My predecessors were working hard to secure storage facilities and processing machines for tomato storage and I hope to continue withconsultations with stakeholders for the achievement of this objective”.
 
The DCE said farmers found it difficult to plough back their
investments due to the post-harvest losses.
 
He called on the people to support the assembly to implements itspolicies and programmes.
