He said the Four senior high schools in the Municipality; Akuse Methodist, Krobo Girls, Akro and Lower Manya Senior high schools are all doing well and running smoothly under the free SHS programme, since last September when the programme took off.
Mr. Tetteh in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com said, one of the surest ways to better education is the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy introduced by the NPP Government to support parents who could not afford to pay their wards’ school fees.
He added that, the programme will widen the gates of opportunities to every child in Ghana and ensure that every child acquires employable skills by the time he or she leaves school.
According to him, an International NGO called Pencils of Promise (POP) has collaborated with the Assembly in providing six-unit classroom blocks, with offices and store rooms for some three schools in the municipality.
Among the beneficiary schools include Bueyonye Municipal Assembly Primary, Oborpah West Municipal Assembly Primary, and Akuse Presbyterian Primary Schools at the Basic Educational level.
He said enrollment has been tremendously improved due to the addition of these new infrastructure, and commended the Pencil of Promise for the intervention.
