Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Assembly confirms DCE

Mr William Atta Mends, the President's nominee for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District, was confirmed as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, by the Assembly at the weekend.

All the 42 assembly members voted for Mr Mends, 58.

He replaces Ms. Aba Edusah, whose appointment was revoked by the President of Ghana.

Mr Mends expressed gratitude to the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and appealed to the people and the members to support him towards the development of the area.

Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe, Central Regional Minister, advised the people to shelve their political differences and unite for the progress of the district.

Mrs Doe said the Mills administration prioritizes the education of the youth hence its fulfillment to a pledge to provide 46 classroom blocks to deprived Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Region.

The Minister advised the students to study hard to enable them pass their examinations and achieve their aspirations.

Mrs Doe said that despite scarce resources, the government was doing everything possible to provide schools in rural areas with quality education.

Earlier, the Regional Minister handed over six-unit classroom block with toilet facilities, staff and recreational rooms, each to the Jukwa Senior SHS and the Aburaman Senior SHS.
