He made the pledge on Monday when he called on the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A.).

The engagement, which focused on deepening bilateral relations and exploring development partnerships, touched on key areas such as city planning, waste management, infrastructure development, aviation, and knowledge exchange, with both parties expressing strong commitment to working together to accelerate Accra’s modernisation drive.

H.E. Dr. Al Mandoos, who shared insights from Dubai’s urban success story, emphasised that meaningful transformation was possible when people were gradually convinced and supported with proper infrastructure and services.

“One crucial area that we need to collaborate on is waste management,” he said.

“How you manage this with us is very important because Ghana is like our people. We are already supporting with power, and we are ready to take up the challenge entirely. Any company that is active in Dubai can be active in Ghana, and the same license can work in both countries,” he said.

He urged Ghanaian authorities to consider city planning models that had worked in Dubai, including the relocation and development of congested spaces like Agbogbloshie.

“Our mothers on the streets are doing a good job, but we must address the congestion in the city. The size of Agbogbloshie alone can be developed to accommodate more. If we work with proper designs, infrastructure, and service continuity, we can transform this city step by step,” he stated.

Ambassador Al Mandoos encouraged a pragmatic approach to land use, citing lessons from Nigeria and the UAE.

“People are loyal to land. You must give them something to get something. That’s how we’ve done it in Dubai. Don’t just remove them; convince them gradually with a plan,” he admonished.

Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey welcomed the remarks and praised the UAE’s urban vision, recounting his personal amazement at the scale and sophistication of Dubai’s infrastructure.

The Mayor added that his administration was open and ready for partnerships that deliver results.

“My doors are open. I am ready to work. We have to show Ghanaians what we can do when we collaborate meaningfully,” he stressed.

Also present at the meeting was the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. Musah Ziyad, who discussed ongoing redevelopment projects, especially in the city’s market districts, adding that international partnerships would play a key role in accelerating those efforts.
