Asante-Akim Central steps up education promotion effort
The Asante-Akim Central Municipality, as part of stepped up efforts to raise academic performance, has launched a debate competition among selected schools in the area.

The goal is to assist the pupils to significantly score good grades in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), particularly in the English Language.
Alhaji Braimah Boyong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), at the official launch, noted that there were additional benefits the skill of public speaking and spirit of healthy competition. He announced the setting up of a committee to see to its proper planning and organization.
For a start, seven schools including Konongo Mines C, Pinamang nternational, Patriensa SDA, Osei Kuffour International, Holy Virgin International, Konongo mines B, Model Basic and Odumase Anglican JHS would be taking part.
The MCE said the target was to expand it to cover all the basic schools in the municipality. He expressed the Assemblys determination to put more resources into education development since that was the way to fight poverty and other social indignities.
Alhaji Boyong said the Assembly would continue to focus on the provision of education infrastructure and the supply of teaching and learning materials.
He urged the school children and their teachers to also accept to do their part of the bargain by working hard to produce results.
