The DCE was delighted about the development said ideally it would have been very difficult to extend electricity to these two island communities including Atigagome, and Wayokope using the national grid. But the introduction of a new solar system known as Mini Grid has helped in providing these communities with light.

The project which was carried out under the Ministry of Power the DCE noted, was even more beneficial to the people because they never experienced the erratic power supply popular called “dumsor”.

He mentioned that out of the four districts that the project is being piloted, the Sene East district had two communities as mentioned earlier.

Mr. Baah disclosed that over 35 communities in the districts are benefiting from the rural electrification projects with works at various stages in the various communities. Some communities are already enjoying light, while meters are being installed in some places among other works.

Additionally, expansion works are also ongoing existing communities with light so that new households can also connect to the national electricity grid.
