According to the DCE, the absence of a district hospital is hampering effective healthcare delivery in her district.

The district after being carved out of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly in 2012 still lacks major social amenities to better the standards of living of residents since the area is a rural one.

Addressing Muslim Clerics, Chiefs and people of Sagnarigu after the 2017 Eid Adha prayers on Friday, 1st September, Hon. Mariam disclosed residents in the area who only have access to polyclinics and CHIPS Compounds are usually referred to some hospitals in the Tamale Metropolis.

But was quick to add that the poor road network in the district sometimes deteriorates the health condition of patients when being transported to the hospitals.

The DCE also lamented on the lack of markets for the Sagnarigu District and has therefore assured of the Assembly’s commitment to constructing markets in the area.

Hon. Iddrisu Mariam used the occasion to appeal to residents of the district to maintain peace and order to enable an environment friendly for development. She however expressed her appreciation the Chiefs and Clerics in the area for their support in the sustained peace in the district.

The Sagnarigu DCE was not happy about the 20 percent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) pass rate of students in the Sagnarigu District.

Hon. Mariam thus urged parents to take advantage of the government initiatives and ensure their wards are educated with the introduction of the Free Senior High School Program by the Nana Addo led NPP administration.
