With an estimated farmland size of 1,132.4 square kilometres (113,240 hectares), the district is actively engaged in both crop production and livestock rearing, providing livelihoods for a large segment of the population.
The dominant farming practice is mixed cropping, where farmers cultivate both food and cash crops to ensure food security while generating income. Key cash crops driving the district’s economy include oil palm, cocoa, and rubber, all of which contribute significantly to local and national markets.
Agricultural stakeholders say the district’s rich land resources present enormous potential for expansion and value addition, particularly if supported with modern farming techniques and improved access to inputs.
As agriculture remains the backbone of the district, efforts are expected to intensify to boost productivity, enhance value chains, and strengthen the overall economic outlook of Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira.
