This comes as an annual flooding of some part of the regional capital of the Upper East which is attributed mainly to unauthorized structures on waterways and poor drainage.

Areas often affected include Pobaga, Sawaba and Daweo which lie in low areas.

The MCE disclosed that he and the planning unit of the assembly after conducting an assessment, visited the flood – prone areas hence the need for the demolishing.

In related development, the Regional Director of NADMO in charge of Operations, Mr Paul Wooma advised residents and farmers in the flood- prone areas in the region to be on high alert as flooding in that area could take them by surprise.

However, Operation Thunderbolt has been on alert to sensitize communities often affected by the annual spillage of the Bagre dam in the neighboring Burkina Faso.
