With resources from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (I.F.A.D) the project provided one borehole each to Nyomoase, Nyansibu, Issifu Ekura, Densi, Jato Zongo and Kitikrom.

According to Dr. Salia Hussein, the finance manager who represented the coordinator, the project which originally supported beneficiary communities against the covid-19 onslaught by providing essentials like personal protective equipment had to re-strategize with the pandemic taking a downturn.

He said in order not to lose earmarked funds to donors, the government decided to apply these resources to other essentials for the benefit of these communities.

Dr. Salia urged the municipal assembly and traditional authorities in the affected communities to support committees that will be set up to oversee the operations of the boreholes to ensure they are well maintained to justify the resources invested in them.

The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive Edward Owusu asked members of each beneficiary community to take keen interest in the operation and maintenance of the facilities to ensure a long lifespan for each of them.

He promised to personally absorb the cost of the operation of all six boreholes so beneficiaries can have access to water for free for the next six months.

Members of beneficiary communities led by traditional authorities and assembly members thanked the government for the intervention which they hoped will go a long way to ameliorate the perennial water problems faced by communities within the municipality.

Present were officials of the municipal directorate of the Department of Agriculture led by the municipal director Mr. Bight Atta Boateng and constituency executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party N.P.P.
