The facility forms part of efforts by the MP to improve access to quality healthcare services and bring essential health facilities closer to residents within the constituency.
The newly constructed CHPS compound comprises nurses’ quarters to accommodate health personnel and facilitate 24-hour healthcare delivery, as well as a waiting area, examination room, check facility and an admission room for patients requiring referral. Residents of Ghana Nungua previously relied on a structure with inadequate facilities to access healthcare services, making the completion of the new facility a significant addition to healthcare infrastructure in the community.
Madam Afo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport, disclosed this during a tour to inspect ongoing development projects in the constituency. She explained that the facility would provide basic and first-aid services to residents, particularly during emergencies, before patients requiring advanced care were referred to other health facilities.
According to her, the project formed part of her broader efforts to make healthcare services accessible to communities across the Jomoro Constituency.
She said improving healthcare infrastructure remained a priority, stressing that the wellbeing of residents was essential to the development of the constituency. Again disclosed that arrangements were being made to procure medical equipment for the facility based on a list expected from the Municipal Health Directorate.
She said the CHPS compound would be stocked and commissioned before being handed over to the Ghana Health Service for operation. The MP appealed to residents to patronise the facility and take proper care of the infrastructure to ensure that it served the community for many years.
The project is expected to improve access to basic healthcare services and reduce the challenges residents face in travelling long distances to seek medical attention.
