National LPG launches promotion programme in Obuasi

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. William Owuraku Aidoo, has launched the National Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) promotion programme in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The Minister, speaking at the launch stated that the government is working assiduously to ensure that at least 50% of Ghanaians have access to safe, clean and environmentally friendly LPG by the year 2030.

He said the Government of Ghana over the past years has undertaken programmes, activities and initiatives towards promoting LPG as a safer, cleaner and healthier form of cooking fuel for households.


According to Mr. Owuraku Aidoo, the various promotional programmes carried out by the government over the years have led to some major investments in the LPG sector, adding that access to LPG has currently increased to 25.3%.


He indicated that LPG is the safest, cleanest and healthiest form of cooking fuel available and therefore urged all Ghanaians to switch to LPG.


The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, Mr.Elijah Adansi-Bonah also said the launch of the National LPG programme will help mitigate the effects of climate change.
