Agona East District Hospital progressing steadily

The construction of 60-bed hospital under the Agenda 111 project by the government is progressing steadily at Agona East District capital Nsaba.

Mr. Noble told Information Services Department (ISD) staff of Agona East District that construction works were going on smoothly and speedily and expected to be completed by the end of 2023 considering adequacy of funds released by the government.

He explained that roofing and beaming works of the project were almost completed and would proceed to other works to meet the duration given by the government.

He said the project comprises male surgical, female surgical, paediatric, and administration block and an out-patient department.

He appreciated the support from the district assembly, the community members, and the district chief executive and assured them of quality work; adding that the work done is 32.05%.

The state of the work done by each contractor are at various stages of completion, Kingspok company limited at beams stage, Hareshima GH Company Limited at roofing stage, and Dumakwae investment limited at roofing stage.

District Chief Executive, Janet Odei Paintsil said that medical doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff would be posted to the health facility to enable the people Access quality healthcare delivery when completed. She added that the hospital will cater for emergency and referral cases when completed.

The District Chief Executive appealed to residents to cooperate with the contractors, acknowledging that the construction works may inconvenience them. She has however, charged the contractor on the project to speed up work to ensure their completion on schedule.

The Agenda 111 project includes one hundred and one district hospitals, six regional hospitals in newly created regions in the middle and northern, two specialised hospitals, as well as a regional hospital in the Western region and renovation of the Effia- Nkwanta regional hospital.

The objective of the project, was to significantly deepen delivery of quality healthcare at the district level, boost access to healthcare services for all citizens towards ensuring the attainment of the United Nations ' Sustainable development Goal three.
