Cape Coast MCE inaugurates new Abura market

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Cape Coast, Ernest Arthur has inaugurated a new market at Abura, a town in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The world Bank- sponsored Urban Development Grant project started in 2014 and has 88 lockable stores and modern sanitation facilities that would ease the congestion associated with highly patronized markets such as the old Abura Market.

Speaking at the inauguration, the MCE urged the traders that are now in the old market to move into the new market as soon their keys are handed over to them.

He implored them to take good care of the facility to help preserve it for a long time. He again used the opportunity to appeal to traders who were relocated for the construction works on the market to begin to move to the market immediately.

He urged the traders to continue paying their taxes to support government execute its programmes and policies for the people of Ghana.

On his part, the Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II advised the occupants to take good care of the market and pay their daily tools so that the assembly can undertake maintenance works on the market when the need arises.

Other dignitaries present at the ceremony were Nana Kojo Addae, Chief of Abura and Eric Nketsiah, the council chairman for the Cape Coast sub - Metro.
