DVLA opens office in Atebubu

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority DVLA has opened an office in Atebubu to serve the people of the Atebubu-Amantin municipality in the Bono East region and its environs.

Residents of the five 5 districts constituting the eastern enclave of the region namely: Atebubu-Amantin, Pru East and West as well as Sene East and West have hitherto had to travel long distances to either the regional capital Techiman or Asante Mampong in the Ashanti region for driver and vehicle licensing services.

The Omanhene of the Atebubu traditional area Ohenpong Dr. Yeboah Asiamah said the opening of the facility epitomized what cooperation among different actors can achieve.

“Development works better when leadership works together. The paramount stool, the Member of Parliament, the municipal assembly and all of us have distinct responsibilities but we serve the same people and pursue the same objective which is the progress of Atebubuman’, he said adding that it is important to complement each other for the benefit their communities.

The Omanhene expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, themanagement of the DVLA, the Member Parliament for the Atebubu-Amantin, the Bono East regional minister and the municipal chief executive for Atebubu-Amantin for the various roles played in ensuring the opening of the office.

He said the traditional authority has made land available to the DVLA for the construction of a permanent office in the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin Hon. Sanja Nanja recounted events leading to the opening of the office and expressed his gratitude to the Atebubumanhene and the traditional council for the role they played in making the day a reality.

Whiles expressing his gratitude to the Atebubu Traditional Council and the DVLA for the gesture, the Bono East regional minister Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi asked the Authority to consider opening another office in Yeji in the Pru East district of the region to further bring their services to the doorstep of the people.

The Director of administration of the DVLA Mr. Leonard Odoom took the gathering through the features of the New Vehicle Registration Plate adding that it is aimed at creating a more credible and updated vehicle registration database among others.

A deputy chief executive of the Authority in charge of services Mr. Foster Akwasi Asante thanked the various actors in the municipality for their unity and sense of purpose which has led to the opening of the office currently located on the premises of the Business Resource Centre.

Present was the deputy chief executive of the Authority in charge of operations Mr. Iddisah Yeboah Seidu and the Atebubu-Amantin municipal chief executive Hon. Masud Musah Ayarba Thomas.
