Business activities came to a standstill at the Central Business District of Kotokoraba yesterday, after some traders of the market staged a demonstration to register their displeasure at attempts by the Assembly to put up stalls at a space which was originally meant to serve as a parking lot in the market.

Traders say, the construction would only lead to traffic congestion in the market and therefore would resist any attempt by the assembly put up the proposed market stalls which is aimed at accommodating traders who could not get allocation in the newly constructed Kotokoraba market.

The arrested traders were later freed on the basis that, police preliminary investigation could not establish the fact that those arrested were behind the demolishing exercise.

The Police have, however begun fresh investigation into the incident to help bring the perpetrators to book.
