According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Adu Sarpong Addo Aikins, the initiative is designed to improve revenue generation and minimize financial leakages.

The digital system, currently in its pilot phase, has shown promising results, raising hopes of increased funding for local development projects and programmes.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the MCE expressed optimism that the initiative will help the assembly rake in more money which will be committed into human development.

In a related development, the MCE also commended President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his promise to adequately resource all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies to enhance development in every corner of the country.

The President had earlier promised to send 80 percent of all resources to the assemblies to foster development.

Mr Addo Aikins who confirmed that the funds had hit the account of the assembly said the assembly was putting measures in place to ensure that the funds are used for their intended purposes according to the government’s guidelines.

He noted that the assembly is expected to build Community Health-base Planning Service (CHPS) compounds, schools, markets and other infrastructural development.
