Throughout the visit, it was revealed that the entire admission process was going on smoothly with students picking their admission forms and prospectus.

The Assistant headmaster in charge of Administration at Nkoranman Senior High School at Seikwa, the only school running the double system in the district said the system have paved way for more students to be enrolled this academic year.

According to him, 1123 students are expected to report on both green and gold track this year as compared to last year’s 736 single track. Out of 1123 students, 576 had reported for admission with 27 students reported fully. 786 boarders are expected for both track with boarding vacancy of 630 consisting of 320 males and 310 females, he added.

It was revealed at Nsawkaw State Senior High that, out of 249 students placed in the school, no student was placed for General Science and Home Economics programme. According to the Assistant Headmaster, Mr. John K. Nambo, their checks at the Free SHS secretariat reveals that those programmes were not selected by any of the students that selected the school.

However, the Fee SHS secretariat has given them the option to access those placed in the school which they think can offer those programmes and to also use the protocol request to get students for the two programme in order not to do away with those programmes.

At Badu Senior High and Technical School, out of a total vacancy of 398, 391 was placed with total enrollment of 226 as at the time of the visit.

Menji Agricultural Senior High School, with the lowest number of placement in the district had 56 out of the total declared vacancy of 388. During the visit, it was identified that 27 students made up of 11 females and 16 males had reported for admission.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Paul Insede, said their checks at the Free SHS secretariat that students did not selected their school and that the 56 students placed is true reflection of students that selected the school.

Mr. Paul Insede attributed the low number to that fact that the school is not a boarding and therefore pleaded to government to upgrade it to a boarding school.

Most of the Headmasters interacted with said although the double track system is timely intervention measure by government to ease congestion in the senior high schools, they also believe its disadvantage to the less endowed schools.

According to them, the system is creating a gap between the first class schools and the less endowed ones in terms of numbers, thereby appealing to the secretariat to consider the less endowed schools during placement.
