Gov't flagship programme on course in North East Region - Coordinator
The Coordinating Director of the North East Regional Coordinating Council, Abubakari Inusah has said government’s flagship programmes for the Region; “one village, one dam and one district, one warehouse”, is on course.

According to the Coordinator Director, the region is currently blessed with fourteen (14) dams, especially with the coming in of rain water this year it has been very, “fantastic”.
He pointed out in an interview that, “the purpose for which the dams were constructed has been achieved”.
On the issue of, “one district, one warehouse”, he noted that a good number of them had been completed, Walewale is one of them and Yagariba, he said.
“Others are ongoing; we are on course on achieving government objective of reducing poverty and accelerating development in this part of the country”.
Again, the reason why this region was created is to accelerate socio economic development and a cursory look at the region indicates that it has a huge economic potential, there is a vast land to support agriculture production in terms of rice, maize, soya, beans and others, he added.
The Coordinating Director of the North East Regional Council further revealed that, the region is endowed with a lot of water bodies, the white and red Volta, other places of attractions like the Gambaga scarp and monkey sanctuary at Zanwara in the Manprugu District.
And two guest houses, Kwame Nkrumah guest house at Nankpaduri and Kakariga which have a historical wall constructed in the 18th century by the chief to ward off slave traders we call it “Nagariga wall and there are a lot of them, he pointed out.
