The Minister during visit to an orientation programme in Sogakope for caterers from Anloga, South Tongu, and Central Tongu districts, underscored government’s commitment to strengthening the initiative
Mr. Gunu said the caterers played an important role in child development, particularly in enhancing school enrolment and retention.
He made a donation in support of the programme and commended Madam Fafa Delphia Agbai, the Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress and School Feeding Coordinator, for her leadership in ensuring effective implementation.
“The School Feeding Programme is not only about providing meals but also about investing in the future of our children. We will continue to support efforts that improve the health and education of pupils across the region,” he stated.
Madam Agbai said the orientation had equipped them with better skills in food safety and nutrition.
“We are happy the Regional Minister came personally to encourage us. It shows government values our work,” she added.
She noted that timely support would help them serve quality meals. “Sometimes we face delays in supplies, but with this assurance, we are hopeful things will improve,” she said.
As part of Mr. Gunu working visit, he interacted with officers of the Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) stationed at the Sogakope checkpoint where he urged them to ensure professionalism and integrity.
Mr. Gunu also visited Flosell Farms and Amo Delta Limited, where he familiarized himself with their operations as part of efforts to boost agriculture and local economic development in the Volta Region.
