PAC: Deputy Human Resource Manager ordered to pay GHC 31,347.00 for validating absentee staff

A deputy human resource manager at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Muniru has been directed to pay an amount of 31, 347 to the Auditor-General's Recoveries account within 90 days.

The directive from the Public Accounts Committee was due to his role in validating an absentee staff for payment resulting in an unearned salary of GHC 31,347.00

According to the report the staff at the centre of the infraction was absent since March 2024 and his supervisor wrote a query to that effect in April 2024. This notwithstanding, he was validated and paid until July 2024.

According to the Ranking of the Committee, Samuel Atta Mills, the deputy Human Resource Manager's action is responsible for the loss hence must be made to pay to serve as a deterrent to others.
