The exercise held on Friday, February 28, 2025 is in line with the reintroduction of National Sanitation Day by the Greater Accra Regional Minister Madam Linda Akwaley Obenewaa, a monthly initiative to keep Greater Accra region neat

The desilting and clean-up exercise targeted drainage systems within and around the market area to remove silt and debris, ensuring the smooth flow of water during heavy rainfall.

Some traders highlighted the positive outcome of the initiative, noting that it will facilitate the smooth flow of water in the drains, thereby preventing flooding in the market.

The Municipal Environmental Officer for the Assembly Engineer Charles Asabre Ampomah expressed satisfaction with the outcome and urged all traders at the Dome Market, commuters and consumers to refrain from dumping waste into drains and open spaces.

He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the market and pledged to continue implementing measures to prevent future flooding incidents.
