BUNKPURUGU:More laptops to facilitate ICT in basic schools

Three hundred and two thousand four hundred Ghana Cedis worth of laptop computers have been presented to at least nine junior high schools in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District in the Northern Region.
The 216 set of Laptops are meant to facilitate the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in these basic schools and also enhance the efficiency of the pupils in the study of ICT and internet usage.
Presenting the laptops at the district education office, the District Chief Executive for the area, Philip Laari said officers from the district education office should Endeavour to monitor and ensure the proper use of the facilities.
He stressed that under the “Better Ghana” agenda, the government through the Ministry of Education has collaborated with Rlg-Communications in ensuring that by the end of 2012 a good number of basic schools countrywide get access to laptops to accelerate the development of ICT.
The District Director of Education, Mr Justin Dakorah, who received the facilities on behalf of the schools, thanked the DCE and the NDC government for making ICT a priority in the Basic Schools.
Mr. Darkoa noted that these computers will significantly enhance practical teaching and learning of ICT in the schools and also create the platform to sharpen the skills of school children in ICT training.
“I am happy to announce that, PAGE Company will soon be in the district to provide accessibility to inter-linked network for internet services in the district”, he disclosed.
According to him, two districts including the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district are considered for this service. He thanked the DCE for promising to provide electricity to all the beneficiary schools to make use of the equipment.
