GA E: Madina benefits from PURC water project
Madina, an area in the Ga East Municipality has benefitted from a water project being initiated in the country by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) dubbed ‘Pro-Poor Water Project’.
The project which forms part of the Urban Water Project of the World Bank seeks to make quality water, accessible to all especially those in deprived communities.
Recently, six boreholes were erected in Madina Zongo, Nkwantanan and Attraco all in the Ga East Municipality.
Mr Stephen Nyante Adu, Chief Executive Officer of the PURC, speaking at the inauguration of the projects disclosed the move to be part of the commission’s social responsibility effort to provide portable water to Ghanaians.
The Member of Parliament for Madina-Abokobi Constituency, Alhaji Amadu Sorogo, who was extremely happy for the project revealed that the area had been without potable water supply for a long time and was appreciative of the gesture by the PURC.
Mrs Faustina Boachie, Pro-Poor Coordinator of Ghana Urban Water Company pledged Ghana Water Company’s commitment to provide technical support to make the project successful.
