L M KROBO: State of the art Health University in the offing

DCE, Isaac Agbo-Tetteh

Construction of a state of the art university on a twenty-five acre plot at Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region is to commence very soon with ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday.

The school to be known as the University College of Health Sciences would serve as a one stop education centre where various medical personnel including doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and the likes would be trained to address the inadequacies of health personnel in the country and the continent.

The school is being established by a consortium of American Companies in collaboration with University of Utah.

Speaking to Ghanadistricts.com, District Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo District, Isaac Agbo-Tetteh expressed delight at the development adding that he is most proud of eminent citizens of the Krobo land led by Dr. Dugbatey (Medical Doctor) who have shown interest in the development of the Krobo Land and spearheaded this project.

He said the school when established would provide a facelift to the District and open up a lot of economic activities in the district especially the catchment areas.

Additionally, the DCE indicated that a lot of indigenes from Krobo are schooling in various health educational institutions across the country and this would provide opportunity for more to be admitted as they would first of all be considered for admission among equally qualified candidates. To this he challenged students in the district to take their studies seriously to secure qualification to the institution.

Mr Agbo-Tetteh also indicated that about 10,000 people would be employed of which 3,000 would include unskilled labours and this would mostly be those in the district and its environs.
