(BONTRASE) AWUTU SENYA: 75 km of feeder roads to be rehabilitated

A sod-cutting ceremony for the rehabilitation of 75 kilometers of feeder roads in the Central Region has been performed at Bontrase in the Awutu Senya district of the Central Region.
The 12.4 million dollar Millennium Challenge Account project is expected to be completed in 18 months. The selected feeder roads in the Central and Eastern Regions are to support horticultural production. The roads will improve road network in the Central and Eastern Regions under the Millennium Challenge Account Ghana Programme. The project involves sealing feeder roads with Bitumin and the construction of a new 20 meter bridge at Kwanyarko. Selected feeder roads include Budumburam-Apra, Awutu-Breku, Bontrase-Obrakyere and Amanfrom-Bawjiase. The board chairman of the Millennium Development Authority, Professor Samuel Sefah-Dedeh was convinced improving the quality and efficiency of the country’s transport corridors was critical in the growth and development of commercial agriculture. The Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Corporation, Daniel Johannes was elated on progress made. The Minister for Roads and Highways, Joe Gidisu who represented the Vice President, said projects under the Millennium Challenge Account Ghana programme were consistent with government’s infrastructural improvement programme. He expressed government’s resolve at ensuring regular routine and periodic maintenance to ensure full returns on investments made. The central regional minister, Ama Benyiwa doe asked traditional authorities and residents to co-operate and support the project. While commending government on the project, the chief of Awutu Breku, Neeinyi Agyeman Larbi Otabil requested improvement in water supply and provision of electricity in the area.
