ASUTIFI : Insurance scheme makes gains

Membership of the Asutifi District Health Insurance Scheme has increased resulting in gains in the mobilization of premium.
 
As at the end of 2008, 70,812 residents had registered with the scheme.

Additionally the scheme paid an amount of GHC 3,329,058.30. as reimbursement of to medical bills to health care facilities in the area.
 
Speaking to assemblymen in the district, the District Chief Executive of Asutifi in the Brong Ahafo Region, Hon. Eric Addae indicated that the NHIS has tremendously improved in the health status of people living in the areas.
 
He announced that the district is to benefit from the rural town water system and sanitation project which is being sponsored by the Ghana Government and Agente Francias de Development (ADF) and the project will be in two packages Small Town Water Systems to be executed at Gambia No 1 and 2, Dadiesoaba/Mehane and Ntotroso/ Gyedu/Wamahinso.
 
According to him, the district will benefit from 70 boreholes and a number of hand dug wells to be sited at various communities.
 
Hon. Addae  noted that the National Youth Employment programme continued to generate employment for the youth in the area.
